Back when the Dust Bowl hit Oklahoma, Sherian Rank's parents, of Salisaw, headed out west, to the land of oranges, Moviestars and dreams. Her family settled in a small town called "Caruthers" in the San Joaquin Valley and opened a dairy.

About that same time, in the early 1930's, Ron Poindexter's family, from Missouri, also made their way west, starting out on two separate occasions, but they had to turn back when they ran out of money. On the third trip west, they finally made it, and built a home in California.

Ron and Sherian were married in 1966, and have two children.

The family business, in the town of Selma, started with a small walnut huller and dryer bought by Ron's father. POINDEXTER NUT COMPANY is now in its 3rd generation, and we are pleased to tell you that our product from our own ranches and our growers ranches is now shipped worldwide.

In fact, in July 2006, we shipped 60,000 lbs. of walnuts to the U.S. military in Iraq.
